Project managers need to be aware of the cultural, organizational and social
environment of the project. To understand this environment involves
identifying the project stakeholders and their ability to affect the outcome
of the project. Once the environment has been understood, project managers
can deal with it to ensure that it has a positive effect on the project.
This chapter discussed some of the internal and external environmental
factors that are to be analyzed by the project manager such as i) the impact
of organizational structure and ii) the impact of socio-economic factors on
the project. This chapter also discussed various aspects of project phases
and project life cycles.
