THE SHARING ECONOMY IN CHINA

Companies like Tujia and Airbnb were founded based on the concept of a ‘sharing economy’ . The advent of the sharing economy was precipitated by various factors such as the evolution of internet applications and smartphones, globalization, urbanization, and shifts in the general attitude of people about traveling and home sharing. .

In home sharing, at least one of the dwelling unit’s primary residents lived on-site throughout the visitors’ stay. This was in contrast to a ‘Vacation Rental’, where a dwelling unit was rented out, in whole or in part, without any of the dwelling unit’s primary residents living on-site during the visitor’s stay. .
