Introduction

In May 2023, Pabiben Rabari (Pabiben), an artisan from a rural village in Kutch, Gujarat (India), found a place on the list of Femina-Mamaearth Beautiful Indians 2023. Started in the year 2022 and presented jointly by Femina & Mamaearth , the Beautiful Indians awards were given to recognize goodness among People, Celebrities, and Influencers in India. Pabiben was nominated in the People for Good category . Born into the Rabari community , Pabiben worked as a daily wage worker, before embarking on a mission to empower women artisans of her community. In 2015, she sought the help of Dr. Nilesh Priyadarshi (Nilesh), co-founder of Gujarat-based social venture Kaarigar Clinic. Nilesh mentored Pabiben in starting her business and thus Pabiben.com was born. ‘Pabiben.com’ became an artisan-led platform for the Rabari women to showcase their craftsmanship..
