The Wealth Management Workstation Project

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

ML's top management team, headed by the Chairman and CEO, Stan O'Neal, who was the head of GPC, and Byron Vielehr, erstwhile CTO of GPC, were put in charge of the project.

One major issue they faced was whether to build the system in-house, as with TGA, or to outsource a significant portion of the project to one or more vendors while retaining critical tasks involving proprietary information for in-house development. Service oriented tasks such as network maintenance and system maintenance were guided through SLAs. ..

The System Roll Out

During the project's first year, ML devoted a significant amount of time to rolling out several applications, which would be used by the FA's, such as client review centre, wealth management applications, trading centre etc. The client review centre was a new client service tool in the FAs'kitty, which enabled them to develop customized portfolio reports for clients...
