Abstract

The caselet explains the challenges faced by the U.S steel industry since its inception. It touches on the competition the industry had to face from the Japanese and European steel industries and talks about the introduction of tariffs and quotas to protect the industry from imported steel. The caselet also gives an overview of protectionism and free trade in the steel industry.
