Abstract

Facebook stood among the top companies in introducing contemporary HR practices. Most of its policies gained instant market recognition and yielded positive results. But the introduction of the Egg Freezing option as an employee benefit attracted a lot of attention, both positive and negative. While it was accepted by a few, there were others who were critical of such an option being introduced. This case study focuses on the problems faced by women employees, with a specific focus on motherhood and its impact on their careers and on the business organizations in which they work. This case study also offers students the scope to understand and analyze the HR practices of Facebook and to initiate a discussion to identify possible solutions for the problems faced by women employees. Besides, it helps initiate a discussion on the role and necessity of Ooctye Cryopreservation (Egg Freezing) in addressing the problems faced by women employees while making a choice between motherhood and their careers.
