Introduction

In June 2020, India made its first attempt to bring normalcy back in the country through the Unlock 1.0 initiative, after imposing a nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Analysts observed that as businesses started to re-open, leading hotels and restaurant chains had begun trying to come up with novel ways to serve customers by focusing on high standards of hygiene and contactless services.

It was in this scenario that India’s leading dining out and restaurant technology company, Dineout Services Pvt. Ltd. (Dineout), had 10,000 restaurants sign up for its ‘Contactless Dining Suite’ to ensure that they met the sanitation facilities to support no-contact dining (See Exhibit I for Information on Dineout’s Contactless Dining Suite). The new service was intended to help restaurants survive and thrive in the COVID-19 era (See Exhibit II for Information on the Indian Restaurant Industry in the COVID-19 Era). Dineout’s goal was to empower more than 20,000 restaurants across more than 20 cities with 100% safe contactless dining solutions by the end of June 2020.
