France based Carrefour (the second largest retailer in the world) is believed to
be the most global retailer with its operations spread out all over the world.
Managing a global supply chain is a very difficult and complex task.
The case examines the supply chain management practices of Carrefour and
describes how it managed its supply chain including procurement, logistics and
warehouse management, globally. It explains how the company customized its
supply chain operations according to the countries in which it operated. The
case also discusses the use of IT by Carrefour to enhance its supply chain
efficiency.
