BAT is a UK-based tobacco company, which was established in
1912. The company has over 300 brands in its portfolio and a 15%
market share of the global tobacco business. One in every seven
cigarettes smoked around the world is a BAT brand. The company is
the market leader in over 50 of the 180 countreis it has an active
business presence in. BAT employs nearly 90,000 people worldwide in
its 80 factories in 64 countries. Some of its globally famous brands
are Lucky Strike, Kent, Dunhill, Pall Mall, Rothmans, Kool, Benson &
Hedges, State Express 555, Peter Stuyvesant, Viceroy and John Player

Global Presence• America-Pacific - Group cigarette sales in the
America-Pacific region, which comprises Canada, the United States,
Japan and South Korea, were 109 billion in 2000. Leading brands in
the region include du Maurier, Player's and Kool.
• Asia-Pacific - British American Tobacco is the largest
international tobacco company in the Asia-Pacific region, which
comprises China, Indo-China, South-East Asia and Australasia. In
2000, the group's sales in the region were 87 billion cigarettes,
with State Express 555, Dunhill, Benson & Hedges, Craven ‘A', Kent
and Lucky Strike being the important brands.
• Latin America - The Latin American region comprises Mexico,
Latin America and the Caribbean. With sales in 2000 of 165 billion
cigarettes and an overall market share of nearly 50 per cent, BAT is
the largest international tobacco group in the region. Leading
brands in Latin America include Lucky Strike, Kent, Derby, Belmont,
Hollywood, Free, Jockey Club and Boots.
• Europe - The European region covers more than 50 markets
where, in 2000, the group's cigarette sales were 208 billion.
Leading brands in Europe include Lucky Strike, Pall Mall, Barclay,
HB, Winfield, Peter Stuyvesant and Rothmans.
• Amesca - The Amesca region comprises over 80 markets in
Africa, the Middle East, South Asia (including India) and Central
Asia. Group cigarette sales in the region in 2000 were some 238
